I recently went to the Coleco Retro Gaming Expo that took place on August 5th and 6th in Edison, NJ. Over there I had the immense pleasure of meeting with fellow writers including Tim Lapetino, author of The Art of Atari. While he’s not writing this one, he’s the editor of Dynamite’s next video game book, Undisputed Street Fighter written by Steve Hendershot!
Similarly to the Art of Atari, Undisputed Street Fighter covers the art and evolution of Capcom‘s best selling franchise. We’ll learn how the publisher went from a one-on-one fighting game in which the special moves depended on the pressure applied on the buttons to the revolution of Street Fighter II that changed everything. Its impact is simply undeniable as fighting games today still use the mechanics and combinations introduced by this second entry.
Undisputed is available for preorder right now from Amazon in two editions: the regular one with a fantastic cover; and the deluxe including a matte cover art featuring the logo used since the second episode, a ribbon bookmark to follow your reading, a slipcase mimicking an arcade cabinet, three Street Fighter Art prints, and a paper craft model. You should be crazy to miss that one.
